Lawn Mower Reviews

Even if it takes a little bit of work to find reviews, it's worth the time. I bought a mower recently and it was a complete piece of junk - something all the reviews said when I looked into it after the fact. Should have done that before spending the money.
What did we do before the internet? It's not just lawn mower reviews, but almost anything you want to buy. Who did we get this information from before the whole world got connected?
Another option is to rent a few models of lawn mowers before you buy one. That way, you can review it yourself and make sure you get the model that you're happy with.
Yeah, the repair shop idea is good but what if the repair shop is part of your local lawnmower store? I don't know how objective those guys will be if they're trying to sell you one of the brands they carry.
I prefer to talk to the repair shop to find out what models and brands have the most problems. Those are the guys that deal with the issues, so they usually have a pretty good idea of what's good and what's bad.
Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I like to read the reviews in magazines. Consumer Reports usually has a lawn mower review issue every year, and most public libraries have old issues.
I usually have pretty good luck with finding reviews for stuff on Google. The secret is to be as specific as you can with the lawnmower brand, model, etc. You'll get better results that way.
